Envirocare's approach emphasizes an in-depth causal analysis and understanding of the underlying causes and the identification of community needs to enable formulation of appropriate responses to issues. Envirocare's interventions and initiatives take a number of necessary research based steps that meticulously gather field data which then form basis for Envirocare interventions. This information is used to chart strategies aimed at addressing existing problems and thus enable target groups utilize available opportunities to better their livelihoods.

Participatory Approach

On the whole, a participatory approach dominates in our programme/project undertakings as this enhances ownership and sustainability of programme/ project. Through a participatory approach, Envirocare collaborates with the target/ beneficiaries, works towards building consensus in decision making pertaining to poverty reduction interventions and environmental conservation with the aim of fostering local ownership and ensuring sustainability of the project.

Holistic Approach- through gender sensitivity and right-based interventions

Envirocare employs the Holistic Approach with a focus on addressing the linkages between poverty, gender and human rights. In the development of interventions and initiatives takes into account the different role of women and men in livelihood dynamics with gender considerations prioritized to ensure equitable benefit-sharing. Human right issues such as how people participate in decision making that influences their livelihood and their environment are also a central focus with deliberate efforts are continually made to ensure women participation. Other key components of the Holistic approach include vulnerability analysis that aims at identifying social economic factors that render a community vulnerable to specific problems. The holistic approach also recognizes that given the multi-dimensional nature of poverty and its strong links with social injustice and environmental degradation, environmental concerns cannot be successfully resolved without analyzing and addressing these links. Thus Envirocare through the Holistic approach utilizes a poverty alleviation focus in order to guarantee that project interventions incorporate pro-poor components.
